The ESRC Data Archive is a national
resource centre, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council -
ESRC, the University of Essex and the Higher Education Funding Council.
It was founded in 1967.

Data collections:
The Data Archive now houses approximately
seven thousand datasets of interest to researchers in all sectors and
from many different disciplines. Datasets are covering the full range
of the social sciences and containing information about most areas of
social and economic life. Most datasets have their origins in
academic, government, or commercial research. Although a majority of
datasets relate to post-war Britain, a special collection of datasets
created in the course of historical research is being expanded and
managed within the History Data Unit. Data held in the Archive cover
most aspects of social and economic life across a wide spectrum of
time.
