The Inter-university Consortium for
Political and Social Research is a membership - based not-for-profit
organization serving member colleges and universities in the United
States and abroad. It is located within the Institute for Social
Research, University of Michigan (ISR).
ICPSR includes among its members over 325 colleges and universities in
North America and several hundred additional institutions served by
national members in Europe, Oceania, Asia, and Latin America.

Data collections:
The data holdings are relevant to a broad
spectrum of disciplines including political science, sociology,
economics, history and social psychology as well as more specialized
fields such as crime and deviancy, law and criminal justice, aging,
the operation of the international economy and state system, and areas
of public health, medical care, social work and epidemiology.
Data are obtained from various sources including researchers who have
collected them in the course of their own investigations and from
private, international and governmental agencies.
