NORC is a non-profit corporation affiliated with the University of Chicago that conducts survey research in the public interest for government agencies, educational institutions, private foundations, non-profit organizations, and private corporations.
Data are collected to help policy makers, researchers, educators, and others address the crucial issues facing the government, organizations, and the public.
NORC was established in 1941 through a grant from the University of Denver and the Field Foundation, the philanthropic institution endowed by Chicago department store heir and newspaper owner Marshall Field III. In 1947, NORC moved to the University of Chicago campus, where our headquarters remain today.
