Affiliation:
NSD was established in 1971, and is a
national multidisciplinary research service facility under the
Research Council of Norway with a strategic responsibility for
maintaining data resources and data access for Norwegian research. It
is funded mainly by the Research Council of Norway, the Norwegian
universities and from different ministries. Main office is at the
University of Bergen, local offices are at the universities of Oslo,
Trondheim, and Tromsö.

Data collections:
The
data
held by NSD are organised in three main categories:

Regional Data (descriptions)
- Norwegian Commune Data Base
- Nordic Data Base for Regional Time
Series (NDRT): Covers Denmark. Finland, Norway and Sweden (and to a
certain degree Iceland) on county level
- The Database on Census Tracts
- Criminal Justice Archive

Individual Level Data (descriptions)
- Polling Archive
- Norwegian Survey Archive includes
surveys conducted by Statistics Norway and individual researcher
- Census Databank
- KIRUT Database: a sample of 10 % of
the population from 16 to 66 years of age in Norway

Data on the Political System and Government (descriptions)
- Parliament (the Storting) /
Government: Biographical data covering all members of parliament and
of the Cabinet 1814 until present
- Parties: Programs of Action for
parties / party programs
- The Central Administration
