The SSDA acts as the agent for ACSPRI (Australian
Consortium for Social and Political Research Incorporated) in dealing
with requests from members for data and supplying codebooks and
related information, preservation, distribution and processing of
computer-readable social science data.

Data collections:
Mainly social science survey data, but
also some aggregate and statistical data files are stored. There are
three main sections:
- General Australian social science
data sets:
Includes a large body of opinion poll data, plus individual studies
from academic, government, and private sources in all social science
fields.
- All available data from Australian
Census of Population and Housing for the years 1966, 1971, 1976,
1981, and selected data from the 1986 and 1991 censuses
- Various overseas data sets requested
by Australian users, from United States (ICPSR and the Roper Center
for Public Opinion Research), England (ESRC Data Archive), and other
IFDO member archives.
